Anthony Palmer

Anthony was born in Johannesburg and matriculated from Damelin college in 1991. He is a qualified chartered accountant, holding a B.Comm and B.Comm Accounting, is a Member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants, a USA Series 7 and 63 Representative and a UK Securities and Financial Derivatives and Commodities Representative.

Anthony spent eleven years working abroad in structured credit sales and derivative marketing at JP Morgan in London and Deutsche Bank in London and Wall street. His last position at Deutsche Bank was as managing director and global head of the alternative risk markets group.

On returning to South Africa, Anthony started his own business in the finance and venture capital industry. After identifying an opportunity in providing off-shore financial planning to South African residents Anthony joined Carrick as a senior adviser and to deliver product development, training and strategic input.

Anthony is Chairman of the Carrick Investment Committee where his team provides a variety of solutions to companies in order to enhance their product offerings to their clients. The team work to develop solutions that enhance a company’s current product offerings, delivering bespoke solutions that compliment business offerings.

Leslie Swart

Leslie grew up in northern Kwa-Zulu Natal and left the green mountains of Natal after matriculating to further her studies at North West University.  Leslie is an admitted attorney who holds a BCom LLB, a master’s degree in estate planning, is a certified financial planner and fiduciary practitioner of South Africa. 

Leslie completed her articles at the Legal Aid Board in Potchefstroom, whereafter she became a senior lecturer at North West University and assistant director of the Centre for legal aid and development.  Leslie started her migration to the Western Cape in 2004 when she moved to the Garden Route. She spent a number of years in private practice before joining FNB as fiduciary specialist, first in George and then at RMB in Cape Town.   

Leslie has a passion for her clients and holds herself to the highest standards of service. 

Louis Venter

Louis holds a BCom (Law) degree from the University of the Free State and a post graduate LLB degree through the University of South Africa. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Louis was the founding director of Citadel Fiduciary Services which he ran for 8 years before taking up leadership roles in RMB Private clients and Maitland South Africa. 

Louis has a passion for training and mentoring professionals from both the legal and the financial advisory fields. He is an accredited facilitator and assessor in this field of learning development. 

Louis is an active practitioner with a high-profile client base which has been with him over many years.  He credits all that he knows to what his clients allowed him to learn over many years of service to these families. 

Seugnette Schwim

Seugnette studied and obtained her LLB from the Northwest University in Potchefstroom.  She started her career under the mentorship and training of specialists in various financial and legal disciplines as panel member and legal advisor at a consulting firm.  It is here where her passion for the growing and preservation of wealth for her clients developed into a life mission.   

Seugnette went on to qualify as a practicing attorney, specializing in the fiduciary field.  After spending a short period of time in the corporate sector, it was Seugnette’s holistic approach to dealing with a family group’s assets that fit perfectly into the Wealth Succession methodology that she now actively applies to Carrick Consult Clients as Fiduciary Consultant.   

As a Director of Schwim Venter Inc., Seugnette guides her clients through the obstacles of Personal and Property law as it pertains to their wealth structure.  Seugnette holds an LLM in Estate Law from the Northwest University.

Ilandi de Jager

Ilandi completed her BCom (Law), LLB and LLM degrees at the North West University. She also obtained a Post Grad Diploma in Financial Planning at the University of the Free State.  

After completing her articles and being admitted as an attorney, Ilandi decided to join the corporate world. Ever since, she has worked as a fiduciary specialist in the fiduciary industry. Ilandi has experience in, amongst others, estate planning and structuring, trust administration, deceased estate administration, will drafting, drafting of various agreements, etc. She is also a qualified Fiduciary Practitioner SA (FPSA®). 

Ilandi adores her husband and children and takes great pleasure in being active. 

Katrien Fouche

Katrien is a fiduciary specialist, and she focusses on estate planning and trust-related services.  Katrien is an admitted attorney with a BCom(Law), LLB from Stellenbosch University. Katrien further obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Law (HDip Tax) from the University of the Witwatersrand. 

Katrien grew up in the Western Cape and on completion of her studies she joined ENSAfrica in Johannesburg, where she spent 3 years gaining experience in banking and finance law, structured finance transactions, as well as local and international tax and corporate restructurings. During this time her interest in private client work in the fiduciary space was sparked by exposure to estate planning, tax planning for individuals and drafting of wills and trust deeds. 

She joined Maitland Fiduciary Services as a private client services manager in 2016, working with high-net-worth individuals as professional independent trustee, administering trusts, providing estate planning services and drafting of wills and various agreements. 

To Katrien, family is the most important thing in life. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children, baking and taking walks with her dogs.   

Abigail Reynolds

Corporate & Commercial Law Attorney, Mediator: Corporate and Commercial Matters

Abigail was born in India and had already lived in India, Italy and South Africa by the time she was 3 and her family returned to live in their home country of Zimbabwe. She completed junior school in Zimbabwe and then high school in Cape Town, South Africa. She then completed her BA.LLB degree at the University of Cape Town, where she finished on the Dean’s Merit List. She was a Rotary Exchange Student for a year in Argentina, having sailed her way there as a member of the first ever school team in the Cape to Rio yacht race. During her studies she also lived and worked for various months at a time in Europe, to gain a broader perspective.

She completed her law articles at DLA Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, then went on to consolidate her love of corporate and commercial law under a well renowned mentor attorney at Bernadt Vukic Potash and Getz. To deepen her corporate transactional experience she spent 4 years in the merger and acquisition team at Investec Private Bank, Cape Town.

In 2012 she opened her own law practice trading as Reynolds Attorneys, under which she and other specialist attorneys offer bespoke law services to a range of clients. The services offered by her firm include corporate & commercial law; wills, estates and trust law; labour law; litigation; conveyancing; mediation; and IT, technology and electronic communications related law.

She is a qualified and practising mediator, and volunteers at the Wynberg Children’s Court one Saturday each month to mediate disputes between parents.
She has been elected to various law committees, including at a national and provincial level.

She is a passionate eco warrior and loves the outdoors, and is as comfortable in water as on land. She loves her dogs fiercely, and the same for her husband and friends.
